So you trimmed the Christmas tree but a little something is still missing? Accents loaded with color, sparkle and lights sprinkled throughout the apartment will definitely fill in those dark corners. But why not add a Christmas vignette? It's a great way to bring together and displaythose lovely Christmas pieces you've collected over the years.
Start with a theme. It can a collection of Christmas dolls such as the ones above. They're from Byers'Choice. Every year or two, I add another piece. Another of my favorites are my snow people:
It can be a collection of special ornaments. The ones below were bought at an after Christmas sale at Neiman-Marcus many years ago. These once adorned a tree but are now grouped on a bed of Christmas greens in a crystal bowl.
It can be a scene such as this lovely Christmas tree woodland vignette from Chic on a Shoestring Decorating:
It can be done as a Christmas village. Here are truly my favorites for simplicity in color and presentation of scenes under glass bowls. The second one I also love for its simplicity of color. Both beautifully, yet efficiently utilize space with great details.
For the more ambitious, these Christmas village ideas are perfect for the apartment dweller.
It can be done with a great sense of humor. Love these Christmas trees in mason jars, the old red pick up truck and a traditional old red sleigh on fluffy white snow:
A Christmas vignette can be served up on a glass cake platter like this fun piece from What Meegan Makes. Love the beach theme inserted into Christmas. After all, some of must "suffer" with beach style living!
It can even be served up on a tray. A throw back to classic Christmas pieces are beautifully grouped here with Christmas scene in the plates, wax Christmas tree candle, painted cones and a lovely potted fir Christmas tree in a silver bucket. Beautifully composed!
If you love making your own Christmas cards with a personal touch, take a photo of your Christmas vignette and add text. It's a lovely way to share your holiday creations with personal notes of Christmas greetings to family and friends.
Christmas theme vignettes are just so much fun to create and add to over the years. You'll love showing them off and sharing with your guests stories of how your collection came together.
